It is our mission to protect the rights of women in Florida state prisons, cooperatively working for justice to improve the conditions of confinement, to free those wrongly convicted and to work with attorneys that specialize in clemency and parole for those who deserve their freedom. We are a grassroots organization mobilizing to change the criminal justice system in the United States however we are not lawyers and we are not qualified to provide direct legal assistance.

Initially, we are focusing our efforts in helping Florida female inmates and their families because of our founder's personal experience within FDOC and for the women she left behind. We will look to expand our efforts nationwide as possible. Ultimately, we want to END violence against women everywhere. Although women are the fastest growing segment of the inmate population, they are still outnumbered by about 10-1 by males and need our voice.

We are looking for people who support our cause by helping with requests from inmates and their families, and by taking an active role in responding to those requests, signing petitions, writing letters, making phone calls and helping us to change laws. Our organization is also reaching out to law students, schools and practicing attorneys to review and take on cases. We believe that when you hear the stories of these women you will be compelled to help them.

Fla. woman wins clemency, freed from prison

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
TAMPA, Fla. -- A woman who was in prison for eight years after a
fatal car crash was released Wednesday after officials decided her
sentence was too harsh and the state's Clemency Board commuted it to
time served.

Inmates cheered as Jennifer Martin, 30, walked out of the
Hillsborough Correctional Institution, accompanied by her parents.

"I'm not sure I deserve all this attention," Martin told report… Continue

The new sales tactic that may appeal to Joe Six Pack and the Cat Lady

I want say the postion of a society that to be a humane society should care for the well being of its inmates. It should be a sytem in which after that person has paid his or her debt, that former inmate is returned to that society with the expection and hopes in life we all have. The only problem it seems to fall on deaf ears. The victims rights groups have a lynch mob mentality and inmate bashing for politicans has become a easy target to gather votes. Toss away the key and let them rot does a… Continue

Restoration of full rights after time served.........Florida

Listening to the 12./15 show as I am writing this blog and I would love to have some of the voting problems other states have when it comes to restoration of voting rights.
Florida is one of three states that unless there is a restoration of rights by a bureaucracy the right to vote is taken away for life.
The political brick wall I have faced is when some people use access to firearms as a reason to block full restoration of voting rights. That I believe is comparing apples and oranges. The acc… Continue

RELEASED DEBBIE IS FREE!
With the help of the Most High - we are pleased to inform you that Debbie was found suitable for release on parole by the Board of Parole Hearings. It was a very emotional hearing and Debbie's testimony was moving beyond words. Her daughter's testimony brought tears to the eyes of the Deputy Commisioner. Nadia's closing statement was the finest and most compelling example of public speaking I've ever seen.

Your support, love, blessings, prayers, thoughts, and interest made the difference. Thank you!
